Hello,

I've never done DIY for car mods before but I thought I would give it a shot at least for modifying my headlights. So, I read up tonsss of posts and stuffs, looked up uncountable websites.

What I understood was I need H8 bulbs for my Angel Eyes (for 2008 528i). I didn't wanna spend over a hundred bucks for angel eyes, and I read some positive reviews on GP Thunder H8 bulbs, so I thought I'd give it a shot and bought it. Only after arriving and taking off my whole headlight, I found out that those bulbs does not fit my angel eyes housing.

It's is getting very odd because I know my car is a 2008 E60 and my friend owns a 2006 E60. I've compared the look of the headlights, it's very different, so I thought mine is a LCI model. But only after finding out the bulbs I bought wouldn't fit, I did some more research and found this post back from 2006.

http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=133897

And I found out the look of the interior of the headlight is exactly the same-the way that I had to took out the high beam and angel eye bulbs!!
I'm totally confused now!! Is my car a pre-LCI model? The angel eyes light up when I unlock my car though, and my friend's car doesn't.
But if it's a LCI then the angel eyes should be H8 bulb? And i'm sure it IS NOT.

So, can someone please clarify the problem for me?

And as it's not H8, LUX H8 V3 wouldn't fit on my car, would it?

Thank you all for your attention.

sounds like you have an LCI e60, but do not have xenon headlamps...only LCI e60's with xenon headlamps use H8 bulbs for AE's111

edit: looks like luxury tax beat me to it...

I'm pretty sure john@motorcepts did a custom AE upgrade for an LCI non xenon headlamp e60...

WOW...
Thanks guys for quick responses.

So what are my options to upgrade it? Can you guys introduce me some reputable products? I'm looking for either LED or super white halogen(as it's cheap).

Yah, sorry dude. You have LCI halogens. There are no PNP solution that I am aware of that is an improvement and does not give error.

I am personally aware of many members that went through this journey that you're going through. One particular customer of mine, he bought 3-4 sets of AE from different vendors assuring him that it would work, only to be disappointed (have to cut the bulb holder, and other modifications). He ended up having me install Orions for him. But realistically, it's nowhere close to what you are willing to spend.

sounds like I gotta spend more on angel eyes than on HID for my low-beam, high-beam, and fog.
As I'm still a student, I don't wanna spend a whole lot to mod my car, neither do I have that amount of extra money. So, I just thought I'd just DIM (Do It Myself)-just a white halogen for AE and HID for LB and Fog; and leave HB alone as it may cause problem running DRL (which runs at a low voltage? according to what I read somewhere).

So, how much is the estimate for all of them(AE,LB,HB,Fog), including labor?
I believe you live in Orange County (SoCal). I initially was gonna send you a PM but my newbie status wouldn't let me.

Edit: Thanks for the quick response.

Well, you don't have to, but will have to if you want it to look better, lol.

I think what you're referring to is DIY (do it yourself). I have no particular recommendations for LCI halogen's AE, as the options are pretty nil. Regardless, as I mentioned, there is no plug and play for it that looks any good anyway. I have actually never shared this before (because I never remember to), but the the rings in LCI halogen and xenons are not the same at all. Xenons rings are made of glass, yes, glass. While LCI halogen, pre-LCI xenon and halogen all use acrylic plastic.

As for your DRL, the LCI halogen's DRL from factory is the high beam at lowered power. I can code your car so it uses the angel eyes as DRL instead.

For the bulbs, I am not a vendor or reseller, so I can't help you there. Lastly, you just need to reach 5 posts to use PM.
