Heavy Duty vs. Standard springs on standard suspension
Hello,
I have an E60 525i with standard suspension. I just replaced the springs, struts, and shocks with Bilstein B4 and Bilstein Heavy Duty springs on all corners. The ride is perfect, like stock. However, it seems to ride higher than before. Bear in mind that my old shocks and springs seem worn out which is why I replaced them (128K miles). Maybe I got used to the worn suspension lowered look. Should I have installed the Standard springs instead? Or do you recommend other springs I can use that will work with Bilstein B4? I'm also on 20" rims if that will be in consideration.
Thanks for reading!

Never heard of HD springs? My guess is they are meant to be stiffer which for standard suspension would be higher (assuming rough road or heavy loading etc) Why did you replace the springs?

My front end has been dipping low the past year. The front tires would rub when I go on slight dips coming out of intersections and going up driveways and on speed bumps. These were all on my normal commute. I figure rather than just change the front I will swap all 4 corners.
There were Standard springs available but are out of stock everywhere at the time so I ordered Heavy Duty springs.

Its odd to hear springs sagging at that mileage; did you replace the upper mounts? they are known to sag.
I did have a look and ya there are Bilstein B3 stock springs. However same part number replaces all engine models. BMW has different spring rates/spring length for each engine and transmission option based on the weight and balance.
Seeing as the 525 is much lighter than the 550 ya I expect they did a 1 fits all but your car will never have the proper ride height/spring rate as factory did.
If you also ordered the heavy duty version then ya itll be stiffer for sure(and therefore higher ride height) even ontop
