My530i

I ran the monitor wire inside the right side tube of the headrest. I cut two slot in the tube. One top slot for the wire to go in and one lower slot for the wire to go out of the tube. The top slot was just above plastic cover inside the headrest. The lower slot was just above the white plastic ball joint of the lifting mechanism inside the seatback.

Let us know if you find a 7" monitor that fits in the stock headrest.
I've found a few on the internet, but I"m not sure because the braket takes another inch and a half diagonally.
Usually, if the screen is 7" in diagonal, we should add another 2 inches to it. So we need to find out if our headrest can fit something with 9" diagonally.

Thanks for provide me info on the tube. So you mean that the tube hollow and it's closed at two ends?

The raw LCD screen similar to Justin's runs around $300-$400/pop. Not cheap for both sides . It's more expensive than complete LCD screen
Thanks/Fred

Yes the tube is hollow. The ends are closed because the ball fitting (the up-down mechanism) plugged up both ends of the tube. The steel tube is very hard. It took a little effort to make those slots in the tubes.

My displays are from Philips, they are special automotive displays. The quality is extremely good, even better than the I-drive display.

The tubes are hollow and open at the bottom, I drilled one hole at the top of one tube.

This is my witeup of the installation of the lcd's

I don't think that you can fit 9" becaus I already had problems with the space on the top corners. But I don't say that its impossible.

Has anyone had monitors placed into their headrests? I have some SAVV headrest monitors but the headrests are from an E39. Considering swapping them to my factory headrests. Is this possible? If so, how much does it costs on average?
I did it with audio vox

Thanks Justin.
What I meant was by installing a 7" screen, we'd need roughly 9" diagonal of the headrest because of the LCD monitor bracket. Without bracket, we can fit bigger screen, but it'll fell off, unless we use custom bracket just like yours.
Anyway, I'll check to see what's the best possible size can fit on my screen. Stay tuned.

Looks very nice!

Too bad we have comfortseats in our car (well, love the seats) but it's so hard to find a monitor that will fit into the headrest

I would like to install a screen between the front seats, just like the 7-series!
i did it with comfort seat
