Headlight repair - can I do this?

Hi all - I have an E60 (2007 530i, USA). I scraped up the outside of one of my headlights - they
are the adaptive xenons - VERY expensive to replace. However, the unit still functions perfectly,
and I have seen non-working (but cosmetically perfect) ones on eBay for MUCH less than a new one.
So, my question is - would it be possible to use my working parts and put them into the housing
of another one? Has anyone done this? I'm worried about how hard of a job it would be, or if it
would even be possible (like maybe they are a sealed unit and you just can't do this kind of thing).
Thanks much in advance for your time!!

It can be done imho .
I think they produce separately all little parts :
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?mo...hg=63&fg=05
but disasseble all pieces would be a long and difficult job .
