i can locate the dash top/cowling also

are there any other parts i would need? i realise there will be programming issues
has any body else done this retro fit? if so how did it go.

i rearly should have bought a car with all this on

i have now retro fitted
1 full M5 20 way leather/heated seats
2 full professional nav
3 LCI lights
4 SMG paddle shift steering wheel

You're going to need to upgrade the windshield also. At least with my HUD, there's a specially reflective area on the windshield that allows it to display the HUD picture.

I have the windshield installed + the unit in my garage.
If someone has a dashboard for me (or he can tell me how to mod mine) I offer myself to be the guinea pig.
And if it works I could ship back the dashboard and buy a new one for me. Or refund the new price of yours if it is in good condition.

The problem is I heard we would need all cables and I'm afraid they can be expensive.

in england if your windscreen is cracked/damaged then under your fully comprehensive policy you can get it changed for just ?50 excess.

so my screen does have a large stone chip in it...i will contact the glass supplier and request a new one....for my car that is "equipped with HUD"

CABLE CANT BE THAT EXPENSIVE??

ok, searching this on here a lot of people have said either no way..or its going to be way too dear,

BUT this must have been all speculation, as i have phoned all my contacts and they say its compleatly do-able, the wiring is not a drama, and could be custom made for the can/most.
hardist part seams to be the instalation of the dash unit. (labour intensive)

providing the car has pro nav, then they all say yes.

so im going to give it a go..
just need the scematics for both HUD equpt car and my "standard car"
there must be some sort of "brain"/ecu controling the functions..ill have to look at a breaker for the "insperation"

wish me luck.

Even my dealer said BMW says it isn't a possible retrofit, but I don't believe them. It can be done for sure. The problem is knowing how.

thats right alex..even an M5 engine can be transplanted into a 1 series you just need the will and the money..the rest follows..it was an option from the factory so we know it "fits" its just adding parts and labour and a lot of programing etc.

i might just find a HUD equipted E60 and take out everthing i need including ecu's/loom/air con from a breakers yard

Nobody will ever succeed in retrofitting HUD. This is the truth.
I can have all main parts ready, but... Which dealer would do it?
I am still waiting to know which and how many wirings I'd need. And those men at the dealership are f***** idiots!
My proposal was a collection between all members would have it retrofitted, but it didn't earn approbation.

Maybe HUD is useless (on the Alpina B5 I drove I couldn't look at that), but I'd love the idea of a hard retrofit.

I can be inclined to spend something, but nobody knows what to do

PS:
The dashboard for example... Can I mod mine instead of buying a new one? Does anyone can provide a pic of his HUD dashboard?
