No, spacers do NOT solve the problem. You'd need the "opposite" of spacers, which is obviously impossible. Normal offset E60 wheels will stick out further - sometimes too far - on an xi.

The normal Style 135 wheels will "fit", but the fronts in particular will be sticking out too far. So, what you can do is get the Style 135 wheels intended for the xi:

I have a 2007 530XI and have not been able to get a straight answer regarding what wheel sizes will fit. I was told by the parts person at the dealership that all the wheels in the 530 accessory catalog except where noted will fit. Another BMW dealer said that only 18X8 wheels with the proper offset will fit so you need to order only that size or only the front wheels from the mixed sets. 18X9 will not work according to him. So what's the story Does anyone have an answer? Also I was told that 19's will not work and are not an option for the XI models.

Just take a look at TireRack website and they listed some 19" wheels available and suitable for the XI models. They claim that they have PHYSICALLY done measurement on each car models and make sure the wheels will fit. So...............

I initially started with TireRack and they show 19's but they aren't compatable because of the offset requirements. I was told by one BMW dealer that with 8X18's you need 43mm offset, and if you want staggered 9X18's on the rear you need 55mm offset. My dealer doesn't have a clue and I've been trying to find out the real scoop for weeks. One of the online wheel marketers also told me NOT to put 9X18's on the rear as there are other issues, but he couldn't elaborate...just what he heard. It would be nice is BMW could give a straight answer.

I have no problem putting 19" on my car. I think they are 38mm offsets all around. But I don't think we should go staggered on the XI model as per many expert suggested. The all wheel drive system will be scrolled up if you do that.

Do you have the 19's on already? I would love to go with the 19's but am very leery based upon the remarks and lack of confidence from the BMW dealers. Are they reccommending 245/35 tires for the 19's or are the 245/40's okay?

You can go up to 20" if you want to but with xi models you cannot go staggerd because its messes up the all wheels drive

I have the Style 166's on my xi which are staggered 19*8.5 in the front and 19*9.5 in the rear? Does that mean that I am screwing up the AWD by doing that? :'( Did not know that. Would have been nice of the dealer to mention it to me before I bought the wheels.

So does it means spacers would solve the problem?

What about the factory M-package style 135 rims from a regular e60? Can that be fitted on the Xi?
Well i asked for those rims but like das already said they gave me the x-modified 135's.
They are more flattened out than the regular 135 rims (which are more concave).
If you want further details see my post http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=25698
