I'm curious if anyone has had a BMW center (bodyshop, etc) professionally repaint their E60? What sort of price range would I be looking at, comments?

Price can range from $500 to $10000+, depends on the workmenship, type of paint, whose doing it and so forth. Which color are you thinking? The m5 Silverstones would be sick!

I do like the Silverstone a lot, but since I already have Titanium Silver the transition wouldn't be worth it. I keep going back and forth with colours I'd like and Interlagos Blue always wins.

Maybe better just to sell your car or trade in to buy a new one with the color that you want?

I guess that is an option, it all depends on cost of the paint job. I'll try the local BMW body shop but it's a really small operation and I think the job would be too much for them to juggle effectively.

Onyx Blue is fantastic as well..

It is a lot of work to have a perfect finish unless you spend some GOOD amount of money. Its krazy labour intensive. Like others have said, I wouldnt do it, your better off looking for a new car with the color you like.

I don't know, but when I see a car that has been painted, all I can think is that it has been wrecked. I'm sure it would hurt you when you sell or trade it.

I thought some BMW's (including E60's) have a 12-year rust warranty? I had a friend from Toronto who found very small rust spots on his hood. His car was 6 years old and the BMW dealership replaced the hood for free under this warranty. I don't know the complete details, but I understand that the warranty would be void if you re-paint the car.

I also agree with the prior comments on the value of the car decreasing after an after-market paint job. When trading in your car, most car shops now ask if your car has the original paint. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, then go ahead. I personally think the titanium silver is sexy on an E60!

A lot of good points have been raised, and that is what I was looking for. I'll have to travel a couple hours to a larger dealership I guess and see what they have in stock because the dealership here only has three E60s and they're all Xdrive..
