My Ride: 2007 530xi - Silver/Gray, Gray Leather, 6 SP Manual, Premium, Sport, CW, CA, Shades, Logic7
Default

I'm still debating on whether to add the M-tech kit to my 530xi, and after looking at several pictures, I was wondering what it may be like to only add the side skirts?

I'm a little undecided on the front and rear bumpers - I'm not sure if I want the lower front, and I kinda like the stock rear bumper. But I do like the flared look on the side skirts.

So, has anyone done this? Or any thoughts on whether that would just look weird?

Thanks!

Looks good. Any part of the mtech kit looks good on the 5 series.

If you have to get one, definitely go for the M tech front. Changes the entire look of the car with just the front bumper.

While looking at quad_m's wheels thread in the classifieds forum, I came across this picture. If I'm not mistaken, that's what I'm talking about, right? M-tech side skirts with stock bumpers.

I like it. I'm really considering going that way. Worst case, I don't like it and then go ahead and order the bumpers too.

EDIT - NEVERMIND. I just took another look at the picture and realized it has the full kit. At first glance, I thought that was the stock front.

just get the whole kit, its cheaper that way. for me... i thought i was buying the side skirts, but i ended up the other pieces later b/c i felt it wasnt enough. buying pieces alone ended costing more for me ~$300-500.

Wild how just the side skirts can make a nice improvement on the overall profile.

It's not so much that I "have to get one", I'm just undecided if I want the whole kit.

I've only had my 530xi since October, and right now, it's bone stock. I've never been too into mods, but of course seeing all the posts and pictures on this site gets me thinking.

There seems to be quite a few E60's here in the Denver area, but I've only seen one with mods on it, and that was just the Euro red reflectors. So, I'd like to make mine just a little different - I guess something that shows I'm not just a "casual" BMW driver, that I'm really into my car.

So, right now I'm considering the side skirts and new wheels (123's, 124's or 135's). And possibly the M5 spoiler and trunk finisher.

Of course, I can also see adding these just fueling the desire and next thing you know - suspension, full M-tech, etc. etc. etc.
