I'm fairly new to the forum, I?ve been quietly just reading in the background for a while now and I must say this E60.net is one of the best sites for all things E60

I've got a MAR 04 530d and got it modded with Hamann/M5 kit early this year I seem to be suffering from severe stone chips on the front apron It?s to be expected to a degree, but I was wondering about other people?s experiences. It?s like it has zero resistance to the little beggars. The car is Orient Blue and under the paint is white which makes it more apparent.

BUT I still love the car. I was initially unhappy when I traded in my Z4 3.0 (baby twins forced 5 seats) for my 530d but I am now chuffed.

My only concern now is the stereo system, I have the basic setup, I was in a daze cos I handing in my Zed and should have paid more attention, I had the HK sound upgrade in the Zed. Common gripe I know and there has been plenty said in different threads, I just wish BMW would do an upgrade as I am not a DIYer.

Also really considering a remap but still wrestling with insurance/warranty dilemma. I may wait for my warranty to finish before I take the plunge. (Gotta get more power )

Anyway Great Site ...

Picx below of my wheelz in the gallery. (I'm in the UK and I have a bad feeling my front tints are above the legal limits, in the midst of getting them measured)

Welcome munkyone, 'locals' are a rare treat.

Some serious body mods there, looks good. What are the wheels?

I have been underwhelmed with the stone resistance of the standard bumper, 3kmiles on my silver grey and it is already starting to look like an old hand. White primer on a black car (I had the same once with a dark blue car...).

If there was a major issue with chipping/remapping it would have hit the fan by now - but everyone makes their own decision on this...

White Primer Yep White Primer just something i never considered/expected as i would of checked it out and made sure it was black. Live and Learn...

The wheelz are 20" Hamann Anniversary Wheels.
and the Quads were a must One day i will have sufficient cash and a job with reasonable mileage and i'll get an M5 + Hamann mods.

I am just waiting the measurement of my tints before i go back to give it to them both barrels as all the work was done by AutoVogue. I must say all the rest of the work is good (up to now).

With regards, to the remap... i agree i only seem to hear good reports, perhaps as soon as i have the cash burnin a hole in my pocket i'll go for it.

Thankx 4 tha welcome...

Nope not Hamannn Pipes. You cant fit Genunie M5 exhaust to a Diesel, it doesnt fit (apparently) however both bipes breathe see pic.

Very nice ride .....looks alone are awesome seems to be a few of us in the midlands with good taste in cars

I will get the //M rear and the quads dependant on the outcome of the particulate filter maybe?

I will defo get the //M5 mirrors done as i hate the elephant ears that come on the " lesser model 5's "

And dont get me started on the stone chips ......light grey / white primer under carbon black .....not exactly

a master stroke by BMW

Edit.....Get the remap you wont regret it
