Halogen lights....looking for an upgrade

I have an '05 525i that I bought used a couple years back and after knowing what I know now, I REALLY wish I would've looked around for a car that had xenons. That being said, I'm wondering what I can do at this point to achieve a better front-end lighting look.....inexpensively?
Replacing my headlamps is doubtful unless I can find a xenon upgrade within reason (price wise - $$). I'm thinking that I'll get an aftermarket angel eye upgrade along with some better bulbs. Any ideas?
When upgrading bulbs/angel eyes do I need to be aware of any dash lights that might come on?

as for the headlights there are 2 ways.
changing the bulbs or change to HID.
I like the PIAA buls that is what I would go for.
