Well, after a year of waiting, H&R finally released sport springs for the xi (AWD) cars, a few weeks ago. Being that I have been literally hounding their engineers since last July for them to get them in production, it's great to finally have them installed on my car...not to mention being one of the first, if not THE first, in the US to have them installed! The drop is 1.5" - 2.0". For those that are new, the xi sits 14mm higher than the RWD cars with Sport Package. In the past, I could put 3-4 fingers in the front and rear. As of now, I can put one finger in the front and barely a pinky in the rear.

I paid $250 for the Springs from AllSprings.com (a division of TurnerMotorSport) and had the work done locally by a shop that a bunch of NY M5board members and owners, take their cars too. I paid $320 for install, with alignment. Very happy with the overall cost. For those in NY that want to have new suspension installed on their cars, I highly recommend who I used. He's honest, hard working, meticulous and very reasonable. It's no wonder a lot of the M5 owners in my area use him. Feel free to PM me for his info.

The car handles a lot better around cornering. The car is a little bumpier, since I am still running the stock shocks (the rebound off the compression of the spring is off), but overall, I couldn't be happier. This is the way the car should have come stock!

Next up...SPACERS!

Here are the long awaited pix! The car will probably continue to settle a little lower over the next few days, but it's just perfect.

Enjoy!

/cman

FRONT Wheel with index finger. Lays flush, but that's it. Can't fit my middle finger in there.

REAR Wheel with me squeezing my index finger in. Lays on an angle. Can't lay my finger flush in the rear. No GAP!.

I can't see much of a difference. Doesn't lowering the xi kinda defeat the purpose? You paid a premium to drive an AWD vehicle yet when you lower it it's going to make it just that much more difficult in the snow becuase there's little room in the wheel well and your front bumper is now lower to the ground as well. Are you gonna swap the springs out twice a year?

Car looks good though.

You can't tell? Go look at some other owners cars that have the xi or take a look at My Gallery of pix and you will see. It's night and day!

As for it defeating the purpose, absolutely not. If that was the case, Audi's would never get modded and they have a low center of gravity to begin with, on their sport packaged cars. Trust me bud, I did PLENTY of research on this for the last year.

It's perfect now. It's got the AWD for winter and has the sporty look and feel for summer!

Nice look...
Congratulations. Every time you approach your car in a parking lot, you will really appreciate the drop.

I think that the comment about lowering the car relates to the tendency of snow to fill the wheel well and cause the tires to loose traction. Wouldn't bother me though.

Looks really sweet.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Appreciate it.

One problem though...I noticed tonight that my lights are pointing down more. The xenon line is about 20 yards ahead of my car, but that's it. Not good. I need to adjust the lights now. Is this common?

I don't have air suspension like the wagon, in the rear. There's a set of springs in the rear too.
