H&R race is a 2" drop (off the non-sport e60, 1.3" drop off sport package e60) and its suggested to get aftermarket shocks with those springs from the get-go since it is a significant drop. majority of those who have dropped their car with springs were between H&R sport and eibach pro-kit. if you sometimes want that dumped look but less aggressive for everyday driving, an always available option is coilovers.

are new shocks recommended for the Sport springs? Which will go lower, H&R or Eibach?

It also will tuck your wheels into your fenders and I think it looks straight up GHETTO.

H&R sport is a tad lower than the pro-kits from eibach. both springs were "made to complement the stock shocks" as it is not too dramatic of a drop with either, but it wont stop wearing out the shocks quicker. it will depend on what condition the stock shocks are in. otherwise, yes it is recommended to get aftermarket shocks with springs as a combo
