did anyone count how much he spent on the carbon fibre hood and trunk?
are you sure you are getting real dry cf or is it cf reinforced plastic?? 15lbs reduction????

i don't think the Gruppe M is a retarded purchase, maybe you are just jealous man,i have one of those scoops and K&N but it doesn't make too much difference, however i know that the Gruppe M makes a sexy sound, enuf to justufy usd2000 i think so, i paid now equivalent USD2600 for my Arqray quad, at least i know it is made in-house at Fujitsubo's main factory
and the quality is perfect, i think the Remus is also good quality.
i haven't heard of rpi outside this forum, is it a big tuning company like Dinan/AC etc?? how many exhausts do they make a year?
did they take the cars to be independenty Dyno tested??
i know some people make some money flogging/selling/promoting some items here, very industrious it is as it keeps everyone modding, and i salute it,
but don't get too cocky and slag off Gruppe M products, these are the truffle chocolates in our candy store man!!!!

I spent $1500 for both the hood and trunk including install

the cf hood weighs half of the aluminum hood, CF is only 15lbs
the cf trunk I saved about 25lbs.

truffle chocolates? More like Bose products. I never said the intake wasnt any good. I said for $2000 its a retarded purchase. Jealous? lol. It amazes me that all of this guys HK buddies jump in here to defend his purchase. If he has 2k to spend on a CAI good for him. He could have went with KW coils or something of that sort.

RPI is made in house here in the USA and they are so far the only manufacturer to have produced an exhaust with proven dyno gains for our cars. The quality is great and the price is inexpensive compared to the competitors who charge more and offer less.

why not?

a 530i costs about USD91000 in HK (before the mods), so it's not like its a high% of the value,
why do you feel a 530i is not worthy of a 2000dollar mod???
Its just my opinion. A $2,000+ intake, that really provides minimal hp gains. On a car that isn't fast in the first place. Atleast here in the states it is pointless.

Just put that money towards a FI setup, which is what the car needs.

no man you got it wrong, we are defending nothing everyone is an E60 man here so why do so??
i don't have Bose so don't know the diff to a B&O or B&W

i do know that your trunk is now so light it flips up quickly on release, did you have to stabilise the spring release on the left?
i didn't get it because it would knock out my wife like an uppercut!!
usd1800 for something from a race preparing tuner like Gruppe M may seem much, but all our mods are not cheap
did you weigh usd99 for +/-70g for the rpi scoop =??USD/lb, weight for weight and material you may be wrong in the end man.
rpi, do they obtain TUV/Jasma or other standards/approvals?
from their website i cannot see their factory, but they seem to be basing on "simple and honest" tuning, i like that.
btw we spend too much on modding anyway so who cares about USD1800 as long as you are happy?

KW not popular in HK so didn't look at it. Looked at PSS9 and Tein but it's too stiff for my family, so went with Koni.

may be this is the reason why we have such a different values on a $2k intake. just like a lot of you in US might drop the idea of getting a 530i if it sacks you back by $91k. MSRP of M5 is $85.5k in US right?

probably getting the 530i at $91k is the most retarted purchase!

to each his own. if i had ass loads of cash i still wouldnt buy this intake. But you did and you like it, so it doesnt really matter. If it looks sweet, and adds performance then its done its job. Its job shouldnt of been impressing a tough crowd of this forum. Congrats on your new mod, lets move on.

opinion taken, so everyone who has paid for an intake or filter or other mod is pointless?? you seem to rubbish the 530i
why??? you can goto your F1 forum if you want, but don't mention that modding an E60 530i is pointless as that means
you will pss every modder off
every hp counts and we enjoy it, so don't break the bad news to everyone about our slow 530s et al

in HK its only for looks, sounds and some spritely runs we have small roads and the police are on top,
530i, well in hk reaches 0-60mph is 6.5secs before the mods, so not sluggish,
i think they have diff specs to the US
+ the fuel here costs USD1.75/litre which sucks

F1, do you mean real Formula 1? then thats more than interesting, if not forget it,what have you done F1 style to your car???
