Yesterday, on a sunny saturday afternoon I had my car chipped at Wetterauer in Koblenz, Germany. Wetterauer offers 2 stages, one at 315hp and the sportversion which brings the car to 350hp. I made the choice to go for the sportversion, the 350hp conversion.

I had the car dynoed when it came in, and after the tuning was completed. The end result is 349,57hp and the temperature was pretty high, so when its colder I am sure it will push out even higher numbers. As for the difference performance wise; it is so much quicker now over the whole range, the torque is enormous and really pushes you in your seat. Even at 200kph it just goes and you still feel that push, which wasn't really there before.

The top speed is now 272 because the limiter is also removed but the speedo needle only goes to 260kph and then stops there while you see the rev needle go higher.

I ran even from 160 to 260 with a porsche carrera 996 convertible; he couldn't get away, it was amazing. He showed a shocked look that a diesel stayed glued to his bumper.

Pictures will follow, just wanted to share, very friendly service at Wetterauer and these guys know what they do.

how much was it? do you also know if they do the same for 525d and if the consumption will be much higher than before?

@530i_msport & Fin535dA:

According to the spec sheet it should be 660nm, but mine showed 700nm. You really feel it build up, the torque feels immense. And the gearbox shifts up fine. I haven't done a launch yet, but I think its like 4-5 secs faster to 200.

What is really impressive; just move your feet and it flies, even at 50% of full throttle. Overtaking is a blast now.

@sese:

He made a price of 1495 including 1 year warranty on engine, gearbox and drivetrain. Including several dyno runs before and after the tuning. The consumption, when driven normal is 0.1-0.2 better than standard. They optimize the engine management, so that must be the reason. When driven harder, the consumption is about 0.4-0.5 liters at /100 km higher, but thats normal, because there are more horses.

They can tune every 5 series, so also your 525d. You will go to 211bhp and 475nm of torque. Topspeed will be 240 approx then instead of 230.
