For the amount of savings, I'll rent a van to transport the bumpers. Make sense to me:

Why don't you come down to ///Motorcepts? We'll have that painted for you cheaper than that. We only use quality paint so please don;t expect $300 bumpers painted though.

Yes and no. There's Maaco paint, and Dupont Paint, and PPG paint etc. There's flex additives needed to be used for the bumpers as well since it flexes a lot. Clearcoat must also be applied properly. One can paint a bumper within one hour but will it last? Nope. Correct primer must also be applied. Prep is ONE of the most important step especially here in NYC. Salt, snow, crazy drivers.

actually from what ive read bmw uses sikkens paint which is extremely hard and does not flex

most shops use PPG or Dupont

did you really just bring up maaco?

also shops up here tried to charge me $1000 just to do my front bumper, my shop did all my bumpers, mirrors and skirts for $1050 out the door, using the same paints and a better curing process

OMIGOD! $1000 for just one bumper??? They're crazy! $1050 for bumpers, mirrors, and skirts sounds about right. BMW does use flex additives in the bumpers. They have to or else the paint will crack when the bumpers flex. Have you seen some extreme flexes yet? I've seen MANY here in NY for the past few weeks. I am about to see more bumper flexing when cars try to plow their way through snow/ice next week.
