I am thinking about getting the ipod kit for my 05 545 from Gary at Newport. I have 2 questions.

1. Has everybody had good experiences with him?

2. I am going to do the actual install my self. I know the dealer will have to do the programming. How much should that cost and are there any know issues if I do the install and just have them do the programming? I don't think its worth the 300 for for them to do the install but I could be wrong. Any insight welcomed.

I've only ordered parts from Garry. He's their Parts Manager, so I can't speak specifically to their Service Dept. Someone else runs that group, so regardless of the service feedback, Garry is great! You should definitely order the part from him.

+100 for Garry....I order my wheels from him, he was great to order from. As for the install, although I havent done one myself from the DYI section it looks pretty simple.....Id save the money and do it yourself.

Garry is the man when it comes to parts . I've ordered an ipod connector along with many other parts from him. He is always extremely helpful. Install is straight forward as long as you have the pre-wiring for the cd changer. Check the DIY for the ipod install - it should be floating around. For install and update the dealer charged my buddy $300. Good luck!

Hey "H",

How's it going? Did you get your iPod adapter from him, and have a Dealer install it, or did you install it yourself?

I hope everything is going well for you.

I got my ipod interface from Garry and installed it myself. I did provide the SIB to my dealer to get the programming for free, but my ipod interface still didnt work so I ended up paying the dealer about $125 for the programming. Took an hour or two. Install is a cinch...save ur money.

1. garry is great. no problems whatsoever.

2. do a search. a lot of people, including myself, have the dension gateway 500 because of the better interface and more potential.

both are easy to install.

good luck,
will
