I bought a set of 124's with tires. This morning, when I went to mount, I noticed the back of the wheel lips of three of the rims had hairline cracks. On one rim it has two cracks the other two just have one. I take it that it is a common problem since the forth rim I received, is an updated version 124. It is more of a smooth lip.

Anyway, I will need to repair them. how do I know once they are repaired that they will not give nay more problems? Anyone else fixed a wheel with this issue?

usually when a wheel has a hairline crack, they weld it and shave it down but the crack will come back if you hit a nice bump

Why don't you return them and get replacements?

Very true, this especially goes for light alloys.

Where'd you buy them?

I bought them from a member here. He has agreed to issue a partial refund so I can get them fixed. I honestly think he did not know.

The 124's are the most crack-prone rims BMW makes...should have been a recall on them. Good luck!

I read this is very common among bmw rims with the RFT's. I have read that the tire is so rigid that the rim ends up taking more shock than necessary thus creating stress cracks. Makes sense. BMW should ackowledge the problem and issue a recall.

Hey man, sorry to hear about the cracked rim. Good news: you definitely can repair it for a little over 100 bucks - just be sure to use a reputable shop and it'll be just fine

I tend to think that it depends on who's fixing the wheel. I've had couple of my 123s repaired and one that was done by some questionable shop "re-cracked" and I had it re-fixed with a reputable repairer - no problems since, been over a year.

It is very possible that someone didn't know it was even there, actually...

+1000000000000000000

Look hot though.

After all said and done, you still got a set of real good looking rims there, so Congratulations!
