After you had your wheels changed and the tires inflated to whatever pressure you want to use, did you reinitialize the FTM system in iDrive?

If not, that's what you need to do to teach the car about the new setup. Once the car learns the new setup, it'll warn you if the pressure changes significantly in one of the tires...

I have the same problem on my 07 550i. I installed a set 20" wheels and the TPM malfunction appears. I have tried to reset through iDrive and no avail. Is there any remedy for this?

On the 2007 car, they switched to individual sensors mounted in the wheels (which is why I originally asked what year car disnikhavikta has.)

When you installed your 20" wheels, did you install any sensors?

Can you use the original sensors with aftermarket wheels?

I think it depends if the aftermarket wheels can accept the sensors. The sensors are a small micro proscessor mounted to a special valve stem.

I just spent the money and had the dealer order a new set and unmount/remount my Type IV's with the new sensors. Reset the TPM through iDrive and works like a charm. I just went this way because I wanted to keep my stock setup intact for possible later use.
