Well rain rain rain but the bm needs some new stoppers so i was battling away today and done the fronts and then realised when starting the back my handbreak is rubbish and does not even hold her in d at the lights so i nipped down the shop and got some rear shoes made by mintex now not got a clue how to fit them propperly can anyone help me please!!!!!! i can do anything just need basic instructions

 

I'm thinking you just need a adjustment as the shoes should last the life of the car. They are used to hold the car still not to stop the car so there should be no wear.

 

+1 There is usually an access plug (typically rubber) that can be removed then you'll see something in the hole that looks like a gear - use a flashlight since it's dark in there - turn the gear using a flat screwdriver. This is the adjustment gear, the turn direction differs by manufacturer but keep trying until it gets tight. If it doesn't get tight then you'll need to loosen it fully and remover the caliper and rotor to get to the shoes. Replace them, put everything back together, adjust until tight (tight means it is just ever so slightly rubbing the drum), then done.

 

The guide is on this forum somewhere. It calls for removing a lug nut to access the adjustment gear. This is not easy so I just removed the wheel.
