You might have gotten incompatible mirrors.

What year were the mirrors from?

Is that harness a pic from the mirrors or the harness in the car?

You might have the wrong year and you probably find the correct year, and swap the housing (to avoid paint costs). and then sell the other ones.

good luck.

I am told by the seller who was in germany they are the correct year, the picture is of the plug from the M5 Mirrors. The plugs can be chged but my original mirrors have one extra wire over the M5 mirrors shown which is white in colour. I tried to connect just leaving out the white wire, but they did not have any electrical adjustment at all............

Oh, I dunno what to tell you.

Your best bet is to take a picture of your own mirror harness and go back to the seller and indicate that this is your car and year. And state that it isn't compatible.

Maybe you can get a refund.

No probs. Here you go.

Firstly Disconnect Battery (-ve terminal only). It's in the boot on the right hand side near the wheel well. You need to remove part of the Carpet trim to access it. You need to do this so you don't accidentally set off the airbag. Remember to wind down the windows beforehand.

Get a grown up helper to help you. It takes 2 ppl to remove the door trim. 1 person to hold trim, while other fits the mirror in. You will need a set of Torx head screw bits.

Second you need to remove Door trim: A little force (but not too much!) is required here. Be careful not to rip out all the wiring behind the panel!
Attachment 36673

Third you need to remove mirrors. Best to spray some WD40 on the 3 torx screw heads, because they are thread tapping and will become stiff over time.........the last thing you want to do is damage the screwhead.
Attachment 36675.
When fitting make sure you screw in very carefully..........as I said they are thread tapping screws...so you want to create the thread correctly first time !

Inevitably you may need to get your M5 mirrors painted, so here's also a guide on how to dismantle them. The trickiest part here is feeding the wiring through the base plate (you need to remove the adapters from the plugs). Also remove the Grommet..........althought it's not easy!
Attachment 36674

Above all make sure you buy the correct version of mirrors.......There is a difference between LHD and RHD, and contrary to popular belief it ain't just the base plate that is different, it is the whole metal carrier that is a different part for LHD and RHD.........I should know!! Also a difference between Pre and Post 9/2005. I am not sure if introduction of LCI models have changed anything.

It's not difficult to do........just fiddly and requires patience. Make sure you have a decent set of tools.

Any probs give me a call.....PM me if you want my number.

thanks mate, we followed that and got them nicely fitted on, a bit loose on the left hand side, but all electrics are finally woirking, its taking us almost 6 hours, 2 people, to fit them.

Now we both have M5 miirors, me and my mate !!

E60BEEMER,

That was no help at all! I don't have problems fitting them, as per my post it is the wiring where I have an issue. The M5 mirrors have different plugs and only three wires, the original mirrors have 4 wires..

Has anyone fitted these to an LCI model yet?

I think you might have to return the mirrors.

I think only one or two people have changed their LCI OEM mirrors to M5 mirrors.

I think this member, pmmeke had installed New M5 Mirrors on his LCI e60.

Link to his post and pictures

PM him and ask him for some insight.

I hope this helps.
