Well I expected to have some problems, I changed from an E46 330Ci to the E60 M5. The 330 has the rectangular shaped glass.

But to be honest I have had no trouble adapting to the different shaped reflection area.

On both cars the outer part is more sharply curved to help cover the over-the-shoulder blind spot.

Personally being a Biker too I always make a shoulder check before I change lanes on a motorway or anywhere else.

Gudge, I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I was contemplating M5 mirrors, but I like you, are uncomfortable with the thought of loss peripheral vision. I'm not sure the aesthetic outweighs the safety concerns unless you have a M-Tech to compliment?
Agreed. Without the M-Tec kit I think the mirrors would look a little out of place. Equally, I think the Style 166 wheels compliment the M5 mirrors wonderfully with thos swooping curved spokes. IMO they would look odd when paired with Style 172's, because that is a more straight edged spoke design. Just my opinion.

I am still disappointed with the lack of peripheral vision on these mirrors. I would not mind so much if the 5 series had bulging rear arches like a 911 or a Ferrari, so you could forgive the lack of rear vision. Or, if these mirrors were tiny.......but the M5 mirrors are nearly 150% of the size when stood next to OEM mirrors. It really is a poor show from BMW.

I'm wondering if there is a wide angle version of the passenger mirror that I can buy.
