I have fitted M5 mirrors to my non-M5 car, and on the passenger side I find the field of vision to be very restricted. Especially compared to the stock (rectangular) mirrors I have just replaced.
I think it is to do with the way the mirror curves at the edges (rather than being squared off). But it means that on the motorway changing to a left hand lane (read right hand lane for RHD cars), has become less natural, and I have to wait that little bit longer for the car behind me to appear in my mirror.........Very annoying.
Has anyone else experienced this ???.....And do you get used to it over time.

The mirrors do feel limited but I think that's the sacrifice you make when you get M5 mirrors. Main reason to get this is to have the M5 look.
I did adjust the mirrors for optimal viewing, it took some time getting used to, and you know what, I'm still getting used to it, I've had them since June... Or was it May? I forgot.
Also, someone with an M5 probably doesnt need to look, cause the car is so fast, he'll pass everyone to begin with, so the mirrors are useless. HAHAHA.

Grateful for other members feedback.......particularly those from the UK, who will appreciate the importance of using the wing mirrors when driving on country lanes.

Gudge, I'm glad you brought this to my attention. I was contemplating M5 mirrors, but I like you, are uncomfortable with the thought of loss peripheral vision. I'm not sure the aesthetic outweighs the safety concerns unless you have a M-Tech to compliment?

I am disappointed that a company like BMW did not give this further consideration, and think of a better solution.
