Wouldn't be cheaper, higher resale value, less trouble... to buy a used M5, than transforming a 520i into a M5??? I can understand the E9x guys that are putting the V10 in their cars, but in the E60... If already is made from factory with warranty why to bother with all the work needed for the swap? Is not only the engine, is the suspension, brakes, transmission, safety, electronic components...

Most of all, WHY replacing the trunk floor to lose the spare tire, putting runflat on the V10 ?
To install the M5 exhaust, that with *four* muffles is super heavier than a custom quad exhaust but looks the same ?
Finally, why all this job if you drive in an island <100*40 miles ?

Isn't better to build one for half the price and have some fun with the rebuild?
FYI he has got all the parts mentioned above, even the key and immobilizer. The transformed car will be programmed/coded with the wrecked M5 original VIN number as a standard M5.

i guess being in europe is advantageous for u guys for ease of getting all the bits and pieces for such a project.

The real advantage is that if you need a special part (the chassis of the seat, for example, that they don't keep at the BMW central national warehouse) you can have it from Munich in 2-3 days .
Parts they have here, instead, less than a day: if you order something before 4pm you can have it at 8 AM .

The M5, despite of the opinion of M5 owners, is an E60 like 520, 530i, 540i, 550i .
Good luck on your project!
You can access ebay too

thanx Alex.. i only have a 525i(M54B25) which i find is a tad slow.my previous car was a 400bhp Impreza STi,so i'm feeling a bit shortchanged at the moment.i'm planning a supercharger upgrade from ESS with their TS kit that'll give me about 300bhp..i know, its not much, but its definitely better than 192bhp isn't it?
thus why i need a brake upgrade as well..maybe not to an M5 setup but a setup from a 545i will suffice.note that the 525i has 310mm discs up front and 320mm discs at the rear..pretty weak if u ask me.
