A member, sapphire 535i, stated in a thread a month or so ago that the company he works for, Asthetik Motorsports in Dallas, was working on catless downpipes for the 535i, which were to be released soon. Not sure if they are planning on building catted DPs as well. Maybe he will chime in and let us know if there are any updates on their DPs.
I would stay with the same manufacturers when it comes to performance mods, as fittement and overall gains are optimized if you stay with the company IMO...


I wonder if O2 sims would be needed even if RPI or any company decided to produce DP's for the 535

+1 on sticking with the same manufacturer. I'm not sure if RPI is going to make dps though..... : (

I agree with you; however, unlike 135/335 owners, it doesn't appear that we will have the ability to choose multiple mods from the same manufacturer (at least not any time soon)...

If there is a large enough demand for them, I can't imagine why RPi wouldn't want to develop them.
the n54 platform is going to be here for a while, now that BMW has decided to go the forced induction route.

I think we will eventually see mods that are specific to the e60 platform (e.g., DPs, exhaust, FMIC, etc.), just seems like all the companies are busy developing products for the 135 and the 335, as there is a bigger market for those. Any info you can share with us on your RPi exhaust?

the exhaust is going to be two pipes, from the dps all the way back to the muffler.
It will be a true dual exhaust...it should provide some really great flow for our turbos

i tried to get a used set at a junkyard for my previous car and they weren't allowed to even sell them to me.

Correct me if I'm wrong Gabe, I was told the 535i only had cats at the down pipes and doeesn't have secondary catalytic converters like the other e60 models. I think the 535 has dual resonators in the section twos and the
resonator box by section three.

4 cats.

Two "pre" in the downpipes:



Two "main" in the section 1:



Past that, it looks to have a resonated Y pipe where the two 60mm pipes become a single 85mm pipe, then two mufflers at the rear.

my mistake, when the car was on the lift, I heard somewhere, the secondary cats were resonators.

They're often referred to as bottle resonators, especially in the aftermarket, because they do act as resonators, quieting down the system. However, that's secondary to their primary function as cats.

Thanks for clearing that up Gabe. So without the bottle resonators, the car should be able to pass smog right?
