Well, I got an answer: $1,940.

I am a champ at spending money friviously, but even I can't justify spending 2 large for Sirius integrated into the iDrive. I was willing to go up to $1,500, but no further. I guess I will now look into either getting an auxiliary port or a Dension GW500.

At least we know it can be done.

I talked to Jackie at Sonnen BMW she said all they have done is plug it in and put a small bmw or sirius antenna in the rear package tray she says the power wiring is there just not for the sirius antenna, so ive ordered the kit for my 04 545i and will be installing it hopefully this weekend and taking pictures and the taking it for the retrofit codeing on Wed the 28th stay tuned...

I'm in this situation too--04 530i with no sat prewiring (but I do have the CD changer).

I've read so many posts on this, but I would appreciate a definitive answer that I can relate to my local dealer.

What, exactly, does someone like me need to realize satellite in a non-sat-equipped 5-series? What parts/items/wiring, etc.? An AUX install? Or what?

I too am not happy nor really willing to pay 2 large for an upgrade, but I may be able to finagle the price down a bit. Thanks!

There is a member here that has done it already. If you do a search, you will find him. I know for sure he used the factory satellite tuner coupled with a standard TERK antenna that he mounted under the rear deck. I'm not sure if he had to get reprogrammed or not. It seems like he had to lose his CD Changer as well.
