A friend of mine works at a bmw dealer and installled a bmw aux audio plug. When he disconnected the plug in the back of the cd player and connect the aux plug unit the sound from my aftermarket speaker box stopped working( amp was still on though). I talked to the stereo place that installed it(box and amp) and they told me to bring it in with the aux plug to see if they can make both of them work. Is it possible to have both? Thanks guys.

When the BMW dealer installed the AUX jack in my car, the subwoofers stopped working. After bringing it in, they thought the amps had burned out and ordered new ones only to find they didn't work either. So after looking around, they found that somehow, they managed to accidentally disconnect one of the wires in the the wiring harness. I'm not sure what they have to take apart to get the AUX jack connected, but somehow they managed to disconnect a wire from somewhere that seems totally unrelated. Your friend might have to trace around to see if an unrelated wire got disconnected.

Sorry, it doesn't sound like it helps but thought my experience might be related.

Cheers.
