I think its best to wait for bmw_wpg31 to confirm what part his BMW garage used.

Saridi do you have photos of all the 4 bits of cable that come as part of the e46 retrofit fit. Also would help if you had photos showing the connectors instead of the plugs. Also the wires on your e46 cable have a different colour coding than the ones that bmw_wpg31 used.

I just received my set, I will give it a try, but a little later because I'm busy now, with direct pin to pin connection (disengaged pin contacts from stock connector and direct fitment on LCI tails socket)

Just checked with my local BMW guy for the e46 cables. He said they need to be ordered directly from BMW AG because they are not meant to be sold separately from the retrofit kit. I just hope that its the e46 cables that are being used here because I just ordered one!!

Where's people when you need them. Waiting for bmw_wpg31 to confirm part numbers and Saridi to show some more photos of both the cable sets, the connectors view.

Here are few pics I got on E46 cable. I don't recall there are 4 cables in total, and I think we only need 2 for the taillights.... I believe the other 2 cable are for the trunk lights

I don't like the idea of "hidden bulb" because of fire hazard. When the bulb is on, it's very hot, and with movement of the car, it might burn off some wire cover and catch on fire. Someone on this forum was able to fool the LCM by using diode (Busta?). It might worthwhile to investigate that option.
Fred, Are you sure Busta used a diode. I found a post by him where he changed his Halogens to Xenons and he uses a Capacitor. See quote.

"The xenon bulb's are very sensitive, it created a strobing effect. I verified this with a oscilloscope. The xenon's require a steady stream of power that the LCM was not delivering. This was fixed by using a 64,000 uf capacitor for each headlight (inline with the nuetral and 12v power). The caps provided a steady stream of power that the xenon's required. In retrospect I could of gotten away with using smaller caps but that's all I had in hand at the time. It worked so I moved on to another issue."

Also Nick how did you get on with the install.

These are definately useless, or atleast one side of them is. What about the trunk light cable. Do you have that. If these are the E46 cables then I've ordered the wrong part.

I think all you have to do is use one side of them, and get a new socket for the other side... I believe wpg31 did the same thing, isn't he?

I don't have the trunk light cables here, and they won't help anyways....
