My Ride: 535d M Sport, Silver-grey, Black Dakota, Media, Visibility, HUD, Foldy mirrors, Hot seats.
Hi all,
Just booked the car in for its first service and mentioned about possibly getting the EVC upgrade as its in the book for only ?49.95. However my dealer quoted me 4 hours labour to put it in! That would come out at about ?449.95!!
Has anyone retrofitted this gadget and did you have to pay that much??
Is it really four hours work?

Mines in today having exactly the same. The dealer quoted ?40 something for the part and 1.5 hours labour. Total comes to about ?220. I'll give you an exact breakdown when I get the bill if you like then you can challenge your local dealer with it.

So my dealer doesn't really know what to do then!! Will probably investigate other dealers in the area and get a price, hopefully nearer yours.
Are you happy with it? Was it worth it?

I had mine done with the Aux input. Both were 1.5 hours combined from Synter High Wycombe.
Looks like 1.5 hours is about right, not 4!!!

I'm still getting used to it so it's a bit of a honeymoon period.
I don't think it fully understands my yorkshire dialect yet!!
On the whole it's very good for switching audio sources without fiddling about with the I drive and looking at the screen and for dialling numbers from the phone. I know I could program my steering wheel buttons to change source but I prefer them set up for the phone and nav.
Definitely a plus on the safety side.
My son finds it hilarious talking to the car.

In 2006, I had my 530i retrofiitted at Sytner Coventry and was charged ?176 + VAT. All worked well and loved the function.
After the car has been stolen , I've managed to find a 2005 535d touring with media pack.
As for the 2005 models, Voice input was not included in the media pack and I have been planning to get this retrofitted again with the same price. Bear in mind the microphone and the wiring is already there.
Now Sytner Coventry many dealers around the area have quoted me over ?450 for retrofit. I have even show them the old invoice with the breakdown but they still want to charge me ?450.
Any suggestions please guys. I'm feeling very (p) off here
