Remus will be here Aug 1st - should I go for the Remus at $640 or wait foe the Dinan?

There's only one Remus online that I am aware of and that dumbass is happy as can be with it. Check out the sound clips in the sig line. It is the best bargain and the sound is low key, but powerful. Easy to remove and reinstall original. I have the OEM in the attic when/if I ever sell the car.

I got a call from Dinan a month ago about a throttle body, which I passed on, but I asked when the exhaust would be available, and they said it was past the prototype stage and they're waiting to start production--so soon, I would expect. They'll call me when available and I'll let everybody know.

Glad to see my kind of person here in the forum.

So, from one dumbass to another...

Was the Remus a bolt-on application? In other words, is the pipe leading into the muffler fitted with a flange?

Thanks for keeping us posted.

I would especially like to know if the Dinan is a bolt-on muffler and what it sounds like.

Yes and no.......The Remus, Eisenmann and B&B can all be bolted on using a clamp (or they can be welded on), but in either case the original BMW pipe has to be cut. BMW did not put a flange in-line, so there is no way to unbolt just the muffler......the pipe leading to the muffler has to be cut. See the following pictures:

I got a Remus too & I love it! Throaty, yet subtle.

Cheers

In my case, the dealer had already cut the pipe when he replaced my original muffler. I had a new OEM that was jus bolted on. Installation was simple other than replacing the resonators that I had removed -- bad move.
