Those are all options I looked at. The question is, I'm really looking for a sweeter sound...that's it. Performance isn't that much of an issue, I'm happy with what I have now.

What I was wondering is what are some good options for a muffler upgrade to get a better sound from the V8 and no droning and definitely no decrease in performance.

Do you guys think this is a bad upgrade and it may affect the car? Like I said...I just want something that adds a little rumble to the exhaust note.

I looked at Magnaflow, are there other good options? Any reasons why I shouldn't do this?
Check youtube, they have a lot of the different exhausts just type bmw 545 or 550 exhausts.

Already did. Some sound very cool but I just wanna hear from some members if there are any disadvantages or reasons why this wouldn't be recommended (negative impact on the car).

And also what my options are aside from Magnaflow.

Dinan exhaust. Had it on my 07 550. Great sound. Not too loud, not too soft. Just right....

I have the Dinan exhaust on my 545i and love it. Gets lots of compliments. Deep rumble at idle, nice growl under acceleration but very quiet cruising on the highway. Makes the car sound like an expensive exotic IMO.

I think it was $1,300 installed. Not cheap but I am very happy with it.

Also when I de-modded my M3 before trade in the Dinan parts sold in minutes so I got a lot of the cost back. The Dinan stuff is expensive but I have never read of anyone being disappointed in the fit, quality or performance of Dinan parts

RPI is happy to announce the release of the new 550 exhaust as of August 17th.

Race Precision, Inc. (RPI) exhausts, not only make the vehicle sound cool, they add up to 15-18 hp at the wheels. We sell a lot of them and we hear happy testimonies from our customers. I can say with the utmost confidence that all of our products are a big "bang for the buck." Our quality exceeds others in the industry since they aren?t purely aesthicically pleasing. At the same time, our prices beat most.

FYI: RPI is also about to release the exhausts for E46 M3 (August 12) and the Z4 (August 17).

You can order directly from our site (shoprpi.com) or contact me directly (michelle@raceprecision.com).

RPi's exhaust is your best bet in terms of sound and performance. Even though performance is not an issue for you, would you install an exhaust that was proven to loose power? In my opinion RPi has the best sounding exhaust out there. you will not be disappointed with the RPi exhaust....

you might want to get the scoops as well!
