By law here in California you need license plates on both the front and the back... i really hate this law but I can see why it's needed.
what law?

retarded.

We're not in Europe...
I've seen American cars over here in Europe with U.S. style plates

If I was still living stateside and had a German car I personally wouldn't bother with a front euro plate, but I can see why some people like the idea. They're passionate about their euro car and think it adds a nice touch.

That's seriously your logic behind your disdain for a europlate...

Why'd you take it off? just curious...

On the side note: I just don't understand how people can rip on those with M5 emblems on their non-M5s, but have it acceptable to the false statement Euro license plate... someone explain.

Apples to oranges sir...

Putting an M5 emblem on an non M5 e60 is fronting like you got a V10 under the hood. What's the harm of putting a euro plate on a european car?

So euro spec LCI tailights should not be on US e60's? As stated before, most get it as a Vanity plate...it's easier and cheaper to get a euro plate style Vanity plate over running down to the DMV to get one. And as hard as it is for you to comprehend, some like the look better. Kind of like how you came to purchase your e60 over any other car....

LCI headlight/tailights aren't stating anything but looks itself. so this is OK.

By puttin on Euro plates you're saying my car is a registed Euro car which is NOT. Same logic as putting on an M5 emblem on a non-M, it's simply NOT...Talk about comparing apples to oranges.
