Yeah! I got to mod it so that it's up even when the battery is disconnected!

Great job, Antti!

With those who has HUD, you need to spend more time to sync the speed on odometer and HUD. Did it once, and never do it again.

Very nice mod indeed. How did you cut that tape in perfect circle? This is my main worry if I want to do this mod. Which LEDs did you use, link please? Link for colour pen too pls. Afterall I don't want to try any product on such a delicate hard to replace part of my car.

Is syncing speedo with hud a big deal? I will assume zero to zero everywhere, is it not this simple?

Actually, I did not cut the tape in circle. As you can see in a pic where Eric is showing the tape roll, it is quite wide. I cut a 6-7mm wide slice from it, and just taped it on to a circle. The tape is very similar to those wheel tapes (time attack tapes) and can be stretched a bit. That's why taping it on a circle is possible. The slice just has to be narrow enough of course. Any silver/white wheel tape would work as well.

I bought a long led strip, which has 30 leds, so I have lots of spares . Bought it from a Finnish electronics shop. Here you can see the led strip.

I just searched their shop for a led 3528 as advised in pinguhk's thread.

Sorry I can't tell about calibrating the speedo with a HUD, but I did the calibrating like advised again in pinguhk's thread and now the needles show exactly the right numbers.
