BALLS! FRICKIN DAMN IT!! Chipped my paint on hood taking off emblem to replace with carbon fiber silver and black ones. Probably gonna try touch up pen with touch up kit, if looks ass ill have it painted. I feel like a dink, cant believe I did it, ruined my up coming weekend. Just lookin for some pitty,,,,,,AAGGGGGHH By the way its not big smaller then say a ice cream jimmy but wasnt there before I f'd with the car and kills me. I quess I'll dust off a new audi friday night and feel better, then Ill sit on the emblem when I park like the Fonz before the sock hop and now one will notice.
Don't feel bad - easily fixed. I did it myself the first time I replaced a Roundel on my '86 ... even used the credit card under the screwdriver tip/technique. Next time try the nylon/plastic packaging strip slid under the Roundel .. NO chance of a slip and scratch!

That Fonz reference is pretty funny. Gotta love late night TV.

Sorry about the chip. Shouldn't be that big of problem with touch-up paint.

BTW: What the hell is a "ice cream jimmy?" How big is that?
A jimmy!, those little chocolate things on ice cream! Im from BAHSTON so who knows maybe its a north east deal. I fricken used blue painters tape, wrapped the screw driver in micro fiber rag just pryed to hard i guess. You know what this could be a great DIY on paint chips with pics hmmmmmmm. OR maybe ill just fix it and get on with my pathetic mod skills and chaulk it up to being a nit wit. " sorry to inform you your sons are dead cause they were stupid"

You're not a nit wit because you tried something and had a minor accident. Seriously, now that I know how small a jimmy is, once you touch it up, you won't really notice. I have used Dr. Colorchip on chips bigger than that I got from just driving down the highway.

BTW: BMW paint is notorious for scratching and chipping very easily. It's been that way as long as I can remember. If you tried that mod on another car, it probably would not have chipped in the first place. My wife has a Honda and I swear the paint quality is better than my 530's.

Sweet ride. I bet it was hard to say good bye. Love those wheels. I guess you already knew about the paint.

Thanks Cal, it was fun to build, the ride was a bit tough in Massachusetts. The power was decent with Conforti chips, intake and exhaust. The wheels were real M parrallels, not staggered and it had LSD from factory. I should have owned after the 86 528e but seemed a bit slow compared to the 99 540 wagon and 99 m3 that i owned prior. Always wanted to do one so went out and went crazy. The paint was a bitch to keep looking pristine. Honestly the 545 is so much fun saying goodbye wasnt so tough because it put some money in my jeans. Having two BMWs in my drive way along with my pathfinder and winter F150 was rediculous. Dude who bought seemed stoked. Hes from NY so I told him just say he built it, who would know right! thanks for all the comments folks, takes a rare breed to dig on the classic these days
