How much should a regular mechanic charge to install a set of Eibach pro kit springs on my 2006 550i? and also, do you think this is a job that I should trust to a regular mechanic? thanks for any advice

Do you have the sport or normal suspension now?

I did ask for a quote for the same springs and assembly and the price was ? 695.
I guess you can convert that directly to dollars.

Remember to align the car after the spring change.

I've done two spring changes in the past year first with Vogtlands and second with Eibachs. I saw references on this forum to $300 installations but they just weren't available here in Detroit. The best numbers I got were $500 for the installation PLUS $80 for the alignment, even from independent mechanics. I eventually cut a deal with my BMW dealer to do it all for roughly $700 with the Vogtlands. When I changed to the Eibachs, I did the work myself....the rears were o.k. but the fronts were a dog and I still had to pay for an alignment.

I paid about $350 including alignment (+ the cost of the springs). A few people said I paid too much, but really I think its all about where you live, because about 8 years back I paid about $300 for springs and alignment on one of my old cars, so that seemed about fair to me. You figure its about 2.5-3 hours labor + the cost of the alignment which usually runs $75 at a cheap place like Sears or Walmart, so you know good shop is gonna charge a bit more.

How do you like your eibachs. I'm contemplating between them and h&r. I normally do all the work to my cars. Spring replacement is normally pretty straight forward as long as you have all the proper tools.

i have a non sport...I was quoted somewhere around $500 for just the install of the springs! I live just outside of DC in MD... I thought this sounded high... I am debating between the eibachs and the H&R's as well

I haven't got them yet, since the guys at my dealers told me that one should change
the shocks as well.

I'm still waiting for more references but if they are good I will go for the Eibach's.

If you don't have sport shocks you'll probably blow them out pretty quick. But i know H&R oe sport springs are pretty close to stock spring rates.

I love my Eibachs, no compliants! My ride quality actually improved in handling and confort since I moved off the run-flat tires. I have always used Eibachs so i really cant compare with H & R, but the were about $50-75 cheaper then the H&R and they ride great, so it was worth it to me.
