Hi

I have a 2008 520d SE UK spec, and wondered what the best thing I can buy that wont cost a fortune to get better performance ;-)

There are a lot of different manufacturers out there, all claiming to be the best, and I'm ca complete newbie.

I've some across the blufin product which looks great, but I dont think they have a BMW option yet.

I dont really want to attach a black box chip, but would do if the right one came along for the right money.

An extra 20-30bhp would be lovely, but without the hassle of disconnecting everytime it goes into the service shop, or worried that if I have a accident the insurance company wont pay out.

Suggestions any1?

Cheers
Neil

Try Evolve automotive in Luton. Good reputation, undetectable by BMW.
I have got good echo on them and will get my 530xd done this Monday.
Will let you know how it went.

Try the sprintbooster...I have a 520D and love this thing.....it doesn't increase the BHP but after 2000 rpm your car will fly!

And the good thing is you can take it out whenever you want...

Do some research theres plenty of posts about it on here

Evolve seem to be quite popular recently, DMS is also a popular choice. My money went to ChippedUK (once) and then redone by emaps. You should see realistic figures just over 200bhp, and a squidge over 300lbft torque.

This is the remap on my Dad's 520d pre-LCI

My E87 120d has the emaps remap - I'd say its very horses for courses - very similar outputs.

Hi Mate,
The best in the uk are dms. They done my 530d and i gave them a phone the other day to get the 535d prices. They have done tests on a 535d and lifted the limiter of and it got 174mph.
The only thing with dms is that they are expensive. They quoted me ?700. But companies like celtic tuning are quoting ?300. for the same figures.
The bottom line is that it has become so popular to remap the diesels that most pf them have brought their prices down.

Good Luck

Can try evolve automotive in Luton.
Just did my 530Xd E61. Only one word. Great..and best of all diesel consumption took a 15% nose dive. Did Luton to Cardiff at 41.9 mpg (imperil gallon) without trying to be light on right foot.

Hi Guys

Really appreciate your help.

Been looking at the sprint booster posts, and its looks like a simple and cost effective mod.

Quick Q = Is this a simple fit, do you have to cut any carpet, and do any wires show? I've checked all of the threads, but can;t find an answer although can find installation instructions.

Cheers
