My Ride: Black 2006 BMW 530i with sport and prem package, staggered 124 wheels, 50% tint, AC Schnitzer aluminum pedals, black interior w/ alum trim set, M style body kit and sound upgrade: Alpine PDX-5, PXE-H660, sub, MBQuart speakers.
Default

I'm ready to remove the front door panels in order to replace the wood trim on a pre-LCI 530i. One of the steps to do so is to disconnect the battery so it doesn't confuse the aribag sensor, etc

Does anybody know what happens after I reconnect the battery? Do I need to reconfigure the ECU? I guess date/time in a no brainer, but what about other more complex stuff, like TPS, or any other sensors/controls the car has all over, do they get messed up?

I took my car to the dealership today for something else and asked the technicial about it; he quoted me 1hr per door (ridiculous as I know they do it in 15 min or less per door), and he mentioned after all is done he would need to "remap" the ECU (computer). That got me worried as I don't know how to do that.

Any thoughts?

I guess he was trying to justify the 2-hr job he quoted me just to disconnect the battery and remove the front door panels, when I told him how can he take him an hour for each door, then he said he had to disconnect the battery too, I said fine, 1 more minute minute to do that, tops, and he added "well but I have to remap/reconfigure the ECU later on and that takes time", and at that point I wasn't sure... but it's most probably BS
