Not sure what engine you have Phil but my car is a 535 so in addition to the resonators and cats, I also have the turbos themselves acting as mufflers. A lot of the N54 guys just remove their stock mufflers and call it a day. I've heard that setup and though it would be a bit loud for full time use, it would be perfect for part time.

That and with the SAT transmission, I tend to drive the car either normally or I'll slide the shifter into sport, hit the sport button and rag on the car. If I could have something nice sounding for when I did that that would be swell and then when I'm not in the mood for it I flip the switch and it's as quiet as stock. The more I think about it the more I like it.

As far as the exhaust coming out just one side, yeah it might look a little hokey with the smoke only coming out of one side but really, who would ever notice and if they did would I really care? I think you came to the same conclusion as me... that's just a non-issue.

Then again, I could mount a muffler in the tunnel, run a single pipe to each side and then run another non-muffled pipe to each side with cutouts but I'm not going to overcomplicate things in the name of vanity.

If I want loud and silly I can pop the cut-out open and the passenger side will be unmuffled.

Seems like the best of both worlds. On cold days it's only going to show condensation out of one side when the cutout is closed but I don't care about that. What say you 5series.net? Should I?
I had this on my previous car.
It had a real Euro sound to it.
Still have it, will sell for 200.00 plus shipping.
The tips were 150.00 alone.

theres also Umnitzas quad exhaust, it doesnt sound bad at all on my 535i that i had. =) but the real way to go would be what everyone suggests and get a magnaflow 2 in and 2 out and delete all your resonators, because replacing a res with a muffler is gunna quiet your car big time.

Someone here actually had the setup off of eBay that I was trying to buy and sold it to me. I'm going to re-route the dummy pipe and run that completely un-muffled with an electric cutoff so that when I'm feeling frisky I can pop that open and be obnoxious.

Curious,

Anyone just install the M5 dual exhaust system to rear, then run straight pipes to quad tips on 545?

Thanks,

I'm sitting in Ripley's in Houston getting my system installed now. Going with magnaflow 2 in 2 out into 4 x 8 offset center into double walled twin tips. Pics coming.

Here is my recent upgrade to the quads. I agree take it to an exhaust shop it will be much better and a little cheaper in price.
