Hi
The famous ongoing problem with what to do about upgrade the E60 sound sytem again!!
Auto electricians don't want to know.
Audio installers have given up.
All blame the car and say there is too many management systems for battery and power management and too much fibre optic cable wizardry in the car to do it etc etc.
One guy has suggested i just upgrade my factory hi fi system with earthquake subs under the seats instead of the factory fitted subs.
My question is tho, will it make much of a difference without changing the factory amp?
Any help and your views/experience will be appreciated.
Its starting to turn in to such a headache! If there is anyone local to Essex in the UK that knows anyone that could upgrade my system with a "proper" sub and amp i would appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

There are many options available, but as usual, it depends on what kind of money your looking to spend. I don't think your going to hear much of a difference by changing over to earthquake subs unless you change out the amp as well. If your looking to make the system sound more crisp and clear, go with the BSW stage 1 speakers. You can install them yourself and IMHO they greatly improved the sound quality. The problem we all have with our E60 is the speaker size does not allow for any bass response. Your probably better off just tapping into your speaker lines and adding an amp sub combo in the trunk like this https://5series.net/forums/topic/109...1#entry1303904

earthquake without new amp = Don't bother
new amp with OEM subs = Definately try it, you may like it enough not to upgrade anything else
BSW speakers = Don't bother

for sure you should change the amp. i used an arc audio mini that will fit in the oem location, with slight mods to the bracket. i also have 4 inch "old school" made in germany mb quart 4 100mm speakers in the doors and rear deck running off of the stock head unit.
