Default E61 Coilover installment ends with fault codes

I recently installed coilovers on my e61 525i and after a few hundred meters of driving the ABS, DTC and power steering lights up on the dash. The car is equipped with M sport rear air suspension. and I was thinking that there was some kind of regulator that checks the front and back height and so the front and back work together somehow.

I imagine you will need to remove the air suspension from your VO with NCS Expert or another coding tool. There certainly should be errors as the system is not working the way it wants it to.

I forgot to add that I installed front coils only but should I do the coding as you told either way?

Oh, if you didn't touch the rears then you won't need to code it out of your VO. The control arms have little sensors attached to them that measure ride height so that the suspension and headlights are at the correct levels. I wouldn't be surprised if you get some type of code complaining about the suspension if it can't get things to adjust correctly, but that should not cause your DSC light to go on. Are you sure none of the wheel speed sensors were left disconnected after the install?

Okay thanks i’ll give it a look. I am a bit suspicious that it could be the front ABS sensors that are faulty.

Those lights also come on when the battery is low or power has been removed. Turning the wheel lock-to-lock clears it. You most likely have someone more complex going on, but it's worth a shot.
