I have yet another fitment question. I'm relatively new to the E60 board and just got my 550i a few weeks ago. I am looking at the crosspoke type 101 wheels and wanted input on fitment with the 20inch rims available from BMW. The fronts are 20x9 ET 24 and rears 20x10 ET 24. Do you guys know if these will work or if there will be a rubbing issue and also which tire sizes are reccomended. The dealer suggested I stick with the 19inchers. The offset is ET 20 for the fronts and ET32 for the rears on those. Thx in advance Kal

Hi!

See this page: http://crass.on.ru/bmw/wheels/style/style_101.htm

When comparing these two sets (20" set for E65/66 vs. 19" set for E60), the next calculations can me made:

The difference in front wheels:
- 9x20 ET24 would sit 9mm outer in a wheel arch than 8x19 ET20 --> So MAYBE with a right tire size it could work. I doubt.

The difference in rear wheels:
- 10x20 ET24 will sit as far out in a wheel arch than a 9,5x19 ET32 --> No problems, but again, the right tire size is needed

I hope this helps.

Fronts may rub the struts - gotta see how much space you have there. OR, if you put a spacer, they might run the wheel arch.

Rears, I think will be more or less ok, as long as you know that you may need spacers.

Exactly. To be precise the 20" would sit 17mm more in.

Guys I see alot of members with 20" wheels and lowered suspensions on here. How do they do it then? I've been trying to get a good list of the parts needed to do this to no avail. I personally love the look of the lowered suspension with 20s.

thanks.

In your case, it will not be too hard to lower, but if you want to go the "right" way (meaning without interfering with ride quality too much), you should go the coilover route. I know most people say KW has the best setup all around for the AWD e60's - not sure if it is the same case with the RWD cars.

Use this site - it will give you some idea.

AFAIK there should be no problems running 20s, as long as you do it with correct offsets. You may want to ask people who have these setups what suspension they are using, what size wheels and tires they are running, offsets and whether they have spacers or not.

For the rears ,a 10" wide rim with a 24mm offset will protrude 14mm further out from the hub mounting face compared with a 9.5" wide rim with a 32mm offset. The inboard position would be within 1mm of the 9.5" rim.

To the OP, sounds like a good setup. I think if you get 20'' wheels and put 245/30/20 F and 285/25/20 R or 245/35/20 F and 275/30/20 R you should be fine. You might rub a tad on bumps, but that's nothing a fender roll can't fix.
