Help. I have a 56 plate E60 530d m sport with the standard sound system. Years ago I had a 3 series with Harman Kardon.. and once you have had that you never look back ! I have tried a few dealers to upgrade the current sound system but they have no solutions. Does anyone know anywhere in the uk that will upgrade the sound system. The issues the dealerships talk about is that messing with the standard fit will screw up the idrive system.. I;m not sure but I cant believe no one has ever sucessfully upgraded their system.. Help ! and any thoughts welcome.

I'm with you Fergy.

Don't take 100% of what the stealers say as gospel. What they mean is that BMW don't do a retro-fit kit so therefore it's not possible. Some of us have done the Bruce Miranda LCI rear light retro-fit which left the SA at my stealership scratching his head!

Keep me posted, as I too would be keen on an audio upgrade. Perhaps we can get some other interest from other UK members.

I know we could go down the OEM route, e.g. sourcing the L7 / Hi-Fi amp, under-seat subs, mid-range speakers, tweeters and central dash speaker. However, I would be keen to find a place that is able to retrofit these.

There are also alternative upgrades, such as BSW. But I think BSW only supply speaker upgrades and do not have an amp as of yet.

I agree, it has been beaten to death! But there are 2 things the OP is asking.

Upgrade. Yes, we know the stock system can be upgraded, and there are various paths we can follow, blah, blah, blah...

Install.
But the OP is trying to find a UK based vendor to actually carry out the retrofit; "Does anyone know anywhere in the uk that will upgrade the sound system?".

I am interested in the second point.

Why not doing yourself? there's plenty on DIY threads on it. Even Bruce has made one.If for some reason you dont want to do it on your own check out http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/ there's plenty of installers and shop listed there.

Thanks to you both. Installing myself is a non stater ! but I'll look on talkaudio. Shame there doesn't seem to be an easy straightforward solution. Thanks again

Hello!
i have a e60 530i m sport with a logic7 sound system now, but i used to have 530i e60 before with a rubbish sound system, what i found out was you can't upgrade the actual unit itself, but you can upgrade speakers and maybe even add a subwoofer in? you can put one under the seat or a box in the boot its up too you. To upgrade the speakers you need a professional car audio person to do it as they have to take the interior bit of the door off. I had it done to mine, and it was a quality sound. You might need some amps with it as well.
