Front camera w/ night vision would be cool.

Hobi,

keep us updated. The front camera sounds more interesting to me.
This is actually what you are planning on doing yourself right? Well now there will be an BMW solution too

Actually Peter, the front mounted cam that I am working on is a colour CCD cam that will give me PAL resolution video of the road and cars in front with a view to getting video footage when my car is being driven round a certain track in Germany soon......

All the Best

Hobi

NB. Night vision - will ascertain this from BMW asap...

I think that if you have PDC you will still have the beeping sound but with live footage from the rear of the car on your I-Drive Screen.

i agree and in fact, we can turn off the pdc in idrive, right? i forgot it'll turn off the whole thing or just the visual from the screen. if just the visual, then we'll have the beep and the image from the camera.

Hobi - we'll need to take turns - I'll follow you round and capture footage of your car from my CCD cam if you'll return the favour

What would also be great is if we organise it so all the e60's go round in convoy, and arrange for one person to take a few trackside pics of all the cars

Thanks for the info Hobi.

Anyone remember seeing the illustration of the front mounted "prism" camera? I can't remember where I saw it -- brocure or video -- but it was pretty cool...

Has anyone installed the Reverse Camera kit found in the accessory brochure. Are there any prerequisits or any additional parts required to get this to work. What about coding etc? Also will this work without the TV function.

I am getting mine installed tomorrow in Singapore. Will let you know the outcome. As I have PDC, I was told that the display will be spilt screen - with PDC and reverse camera picture displayed on i-drive. Cool!

Please tell me what you original configuration is (do you have Nav and/or TV) and what are the parts needed to get this functioning.
