Is it possible? I know anything is possible but I'll probably need the ECU, headers, exhaust, engine, tranny, diff? Anyone can shed some light? Google gave me a Z4 M that transplanted a V10 M5 engine in therwe.

You need to gut your engine bay, re-arrange everything, you need a new tranny, diff.....unless you really have a tight connection with your car and don't want to sell it...I'd say buy a CPO M5...

I do have a connection. I am planning on buying the E60 m5 as soon as the F10 M5 comes out. But I was thinking of dropping the M5 engine in there. Cant avoid the tranny and diff i guess. There's no one to go to for suggestions in this. It's such a rare case.

I would just leave your 545i the way it is....the task of making the M5 engine work will be VERY, VERY expensive. Amazing, but very, very expensive. If you really want to do something crazy, take a high mileage 128i and drop M5 internals into that car...THAT would be insane.

I know it's been done before (read it on a forum somewhere, try google) but I don't think the effort is worth it. You will have a unique car but can you imagine the trouble you will have with error codes, etc..... It'll be a nightmare to diagnose and to work on....

Structurally, also, you will need to change your rotors, brakes, shocks, etc -- it's like building a car from scratch and quite a project. But like I said, I know it's been done!

Not worth it.

I'd say take your Rieger kit off and install it on the M5. Mold the front bumper to fit the fenders and transfer everything off your 545i.

Not worth it, it would be worth doing it inside a e30 or something.

There was one member on here who did a trunk swap with a M5 to be able to fit two M5 exhaust on his car. I don't remember his name, but he was planning to do the engine swap as well. Maybe another member could chime in to help you. Either way, it definitely sounds challenging.

nicke60gre did perform an engine swap, just wasnt an M5 V10 engine he dropped into his e60:

I say save yourself the time, energy, and $ in attempting the swap and just purchase an e60 M5 and spend the $ on modding that
