to the forum!

BMW did what they call an LCI refresh in 2008 on E60s where the styling of many body parts was updated. I would say that there is a good chance that the 2006 bumper will not align correctly with your 2008. There are M5 bumpers available for post-LCI models. I'd go that route to be safe.

The Pre-lci and lci M-sport or M5 bumpers are identical other than the LCI adds a build in side marker/reflector because the LCIs deleted it from the headlight. Fitment should be exactly the same.

Aftermarket usually just had a 1 fit all(likely without markers) and fitment might not be as flawless as oem

Looking to put this 1m style bumper on my 08 528xi. Any thoughts or reviews on the product? Thinking about putting it on myself and bringing it to a shop to get painted. Suggestions??

You originally said M5 bumper, now it's 1M. Totally different. You may want to read through some older threads like this one before you decide. Don't want to dissuade you, just warning to enter the sale with eyes wide open as to the materials used. Who are you buying it from?

The OEM M5 bumper only fits if you also swap out the OEM M5 fenders. In my opinion this is the only way to do it.

All of the others do not fit well and are made in China or Taiwan. They NEVER fit right.
