Anyone on this forum running a JL Audio Stealthbox subwoofer in their boot?
Looks like a really neat solution.
The site here also recommends the JL Audio TR400-CXi drop-in satellites to compliment the sub. These are not components though.

Could even drop in the SWS-8 woofers under the front seats too!
What do you guys think of such a system, driven with a quality amp of course?

The sub looks awesome and I always wanted to get it.. but its freaking expensive! You probably need to buy a new amp and also purchase new subs and speakers to compliment the setup. a big investment to upgrade the sound system. if you do get it, show me pics! I would love to see how it is.

Go to your local car audio shop and have them build you a custon fiberglass box to fit the same! I made my own by looking on the internet for ideas and it was actually kinda fun! installed a W6v2 and it sounds great! I made my box for under $100 and look great! If you have any questions send me a PM and I can help you with the steps. Adam

Hmmm... maybe it's cheaper to just replace the woofers under the front seats with the Earthquake SWS-8 speakers, and drive all the aftermarket speakers off a quality amp?

Man i could do some major damage for 1Grand, in any case how did you guys get the base in to the cabin as BMW trunks are quite sealed, also, there is no mention of insulation as im sure the trunk would rattle like crazy, i know i have a Hertz 1000 watter kicking through the ski pass in a custom build box and i was rattling a lot

I have the JL Audio satealthbox, and I am very pleased with it.
It was about $900 for the box and the woofer, which I think is a pretty good deal.
JL Audio makes these stealthboxes for various cars and they put a lot of effort into the design and tuning.
My audio shop and I discussed at length before making the final decision. We both agreed that to have them build a custom fiberglass enclosure to match the JL enclosure and then put in that same woofer would likely cost the same or possibly more than buying the stealthbox. Plus, the JL box has a lot of testing in the car already.
If saving trunk space were less of a concern for me, I might have gone another route. (In previous cars I have always used three JL Audio 10W6 woofers)
The previous poster is correct that you will need to purchase and install an amplifier to run the sub. And your amp should be a fairly high-powered one, since they are using a 12W6v2 woofer in a sealed enclosure. I am running mine with a JL Audio HD750.1 mono amp, which outputs 750 watts for the woofer.
