E60 535i Sport Automatic Transmission Flash
Wanted to share my experience
First of all ( and there's many ), Wedge is ONE who knows his stuff and if you have any concerns, he will make you feel at ease
Wedge, thank you
OK, enough xoxo
I installed the SAT retrofitted on my 2008 535i over 2 years ago and the only thing that worked when you pressed the sport button is the steering stiffened
Now, I know, the car feels like it hugs the road, like it lowers a tad when pushing it. ( maybe placebo, but I can tell the difference )
Drive mode shows the same " D " - smoother than before
DS mode is now " S1 - 6 " - shifts are WAY smoother and stronger
WOW !!
I don't know how the Alpina feels ( maybe one day ), but this is a definite MUST have if you SAT retrofitted your car ( or not )
Wedge, again, thank you ( Donation sent )
A good person who deserves the respect for a piece of his knowledge

BTW Here's my day at the Dyno

Info From Wedge:
" @skysurfer and I flashed his 535i which is SAT shifter retrofitted to the Sport Automatic Transmission flash using Assembly Number 7601458.
At first I thought maybe we could try the Alpina flash, but after checking out his UIF information and looking at his current assembly number, I decided not to because his ECU type is GKE215. So the only options were standard transmission or sport automatic transmission. So we rolled the dice and flashed it to the Sport A/T because he was alreayd on the lastest standard transmissions flash and sure enough it works and works very well. D is still just D, but SD is now S1-6. According to Skysurfer, shifts are much smoother in D, and quicker in Sport or Manual. Rev matching is also better.
So I’ll leave it at that and I’ll let Skysurfer chime in and give you the 411 because he knows his car and he can tell you first hand the flash made.
If anyone needs any assistance with setting this up, please let me know."

Hey mate,
I could do with some assistance. I have done the SAT HARDWARE INSALLATION. Paddles and shifter and have coded the car so the paddles work. However I now feel brave enough to flash my EGS to SAT mode so I can have full functionality of sports mode. When I press sports mode, all I get is sports word in cluster and steering hardens. No rev matching.
Thanks

My Ride: 2008 535i
Good morning,
I was recently doing some searching online about having my transmission flashed with an updated software and I came across this information. Now to start, I currently own a 2008 BMW 535i with sports package. However, I do not have a sports button on my console. When I am in normal drive mode, my car displays: D. When I slap it over to manual shift mode, it displays: DS. Once I start shifting gears manually, my display changes to M2,M3, etc, indicating current gear.
My question to you is, what options are available to me?
I noticed that others that have the “sport flash”, their gear indicator shows “S2, S3, etc..”
By having the sport package, do I not already have the “sport flash”?.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

No, SAT was an option itself, not part of the standard sport package. Gear indicator shows S1, S2, like you stated with SAT. You just need to get a DCAN cable and use NCS Expert to flash the assy number listed in the 1st post. I flashed my 535 w/ full SAT retrofit less paddles, and also a co-workers stock 535. No issues on either one.

My Ride: 550i
Model Year: 2011
So I had done this mod successfully last year on a 550i. But on a 535xi I cannot seem to get sport to show up in the cluster. I have egs programmed so I have s1-s6 and I also have the retrofitted shifter with the sport button. I have changed VO to remove 205 and add 2TB on Cas and Lma and then tried coding Kpmbi in expert mode but sport just does not show up in the instrument cluster. I have tried to look at all settings for the Kombi in ncsdummy and I see no option that explicitly calls out sport auto separate from automatic. Even went as far as programing Kombi with winfkp but no luck.
Any tips?
