I recently called a local garage to have my 550i dyno'ed. I had the Eurobahn software, AFe CAI and Eisenmann racing exhaust installed and wanted to measure the new engine output. I was told that because of the Traction Control the dyno would not work. The person I spoke to was unable to explain one. Can someone help me? If that is really the problem can't they simply turn the DSC off?

Hold the DTC button longer than 3 seconds to disengage the traction control. Your set up is very similar to my former 545i.

It appears you have not done a baseline dyno so how you will not know what your gains are? You will have to do some math and some guessing at parasitic loss to get crank hp/tq from wheel hp/tq and compare to factory advertised 360/360. I would love to hear what your Eisenmann sounds like. Are you ever in Richmond?

Wow this is amazing, I been looking for some dyno results for modded 550s. Can you explain a bit about the results? I'm not sure on how to read the results.
So which is which?
Performance
Powertrain performance
Wheel power 235 (319 / 315)
kW (PS / bhp)
at 1/min 6116
Total wheel torque / total reduction 433 (320)
Nm (lb-ft)
at 1/min 3607
Stated engine performance
Engine power 270 (367 / 362)
kW (PS / bhp)
at 1/min 6300
Engine torque 490 (361)
Nm (lb-ft)
at 1/min 3400
If I'm correct, is the car's HP = 362 HP? Isn't that only 2 HP above the stock 550i because you've done quite some mods already to your car, like what I'm trying to do right now. AFE CAI (they state 11.75 HP increase) + Eisemann exhaust + ECU remap
I thought that you would have at least increase to 380 or 390 HP from the mods.

My general experience with racing exhausts are that the only true hp gains come from upgrading the cat conv (or removing it) and replacing the exhaust manifolds with headers. A cat-back only upgrade only makes it sound different. And if you make it breathe out better, you have to make it breathe in better with an aftermarket intake setup.

Either BMW overstated the output of the 550i, the dyno results are incorrect, or your mods only got you another 2hp. The results you posted seem appropriate for a stock 550i.
