Hey guys,

I recently installed an excursion 15 sub, with a mmats pro audio 800 watt amp. It sounds great but the rattling has begun in parts of the trunk. I was told that Dyna-Mat can solve this problem. Any one have experience with Dyna-mat? Difficulty of installation and all that?

Yes it can solve that problem. Dynamat is pretty easy to install, the hardest part is taking things apart so you can stick the dynamat on. What I did was use a plastic roller (kind of like what painters use except the roller is plastic) to roll the air bubbles out.

Kinda hard to visualize but let me know if you have any more questions.

When I installed my 10' W6 the biggest issue was the plate rattling and some other rattling from a mysterious spot. After I cut a perfect piece of dynamat for my plate that pretty much solved that issue quite well actually. I still had the rattling/ ringing though and I couldnt seem to figure out where the heck it was coming from. Finally, I pulled out my spare underneath and found some loose change...LOL-- just wanted to make sure you check there as well. A 15 tho? A little overkill IMO, but whatever gets you goin I supose...GL tho

Dynamat is way to expensive. Unless money isn't an issue or you can get a good deal from somebody, I'd look into other products out there.

yeah the 15' is alot but it was free why not?
Yeah it seems to be the plate mostly, but also the right side of my rear bumper is rattling against the frame so i think im gonna have to take off the bumper and put a piece of dynamat in the area as well.

I would start with the mechanical rattles first.

1) 50% of your rattling is likely the license plate, use a 4 bolt license plate frame.

2) Before you "dynamat" your bumper, check to see if the noise is coming from the rubber flaps covering the air pressure release grills on the left and right side of the trunk.

Thats most likely what it is! i didnt even know about that So in the case that it is this, what should i do to eliminate the rattling?

dynamat is very expensive and there are other products out there. For the budget minded guy there is a roofing product that is very similar to dynamat that you can get at home depot in large rolls for much less than dynamat. If I remember right there was another thread on here just the other day of someone using that stuff on there e60.

Do not try to remove those grilles, there are wires zip tied to them on the other side. I semi-sealed mine off with 1/8" open cell foam. You could use duct tape just for testing to see if that was really the issue first.
