DVD preparation at rear

I have the same connections in my E60. Manufactured in June 2007. I believe it is the DVD preparation. I was assuming I could put a dvd changer/player in the boot and then display it to aftermarket headrest/seatback screens.
Did you ever progress the use of these connectors.
did anyone else use these connectors. I assume they go somewhere into the cabin?
