I'm new to the forum and have just gotten a used 2007 530i with the sport package, but I'm already looking at replacement tires for the original dunlop sport DSST tires. How loud are these tires compared with other options for the stock size and still sporty handling? Any recommendations on a replacement?

thanks in advance

The original Dunlop SP Sport1 RF tires are a disaster, they spoil the whole car completely.

Any non-RF tire is better and a lot. In comfort, sound and handling!
It's like you had a brand new car.

If you can afford it, go for Michelin PS2's, if not, I'm sure I lot of good hints will follow
from fellow members.

I'm running on 19" non-RF Dunlop Sport Maxx's and they are great.

I here presume you have 18" tires.

I have a set of the Bridgestone RFTs on my original 18" wheels but added a set of CSL Reps with General UHP non-RFTs for the winter months.

You should check the tire surveys on tirerack ... and use them for price comparisons, too. If you decided to shop and buy there check thru the link in my signature for additional $$$ rebates and coupons.

I'm running Bridgestone Potenza RFTs, got the dealer to change them over from the original Dunlops when I bought the car. Highly reccomended, the Bridgestones are nice and grippy, and almost no tire noise. My E46 ran Bridgestone Touranza's, best tire I ever owned. Could corner on a dime with those. Ran them for 40k (km), and they were as new...

Those are definitely my favorite at the moment. I was thinking Michelin PE2's, but they don't come in the right size..

Thanks for the advice

I HATE those tires, hate em, they tramline horribly, are slick as hell, ride like crap, weigh a ton and are noisy. Let me see what did I leave out other than they suck?

My Dunlop Sport Run like Crap tires are in storage waiting for the day I trade the car in. Switched to Michelin Pilot A/S and am very happy with them. Makes the car handle, corner, ride etc many times better. No idea why BMW would let their cars out of the factory with black rocks attached to the wheels.
